All members of Leek Archery Club have completed an approved Archery GB beginner course either at this club or elsewhere. This is a requirement before anyone can shoot or be accepted as a full member of any club. Existing archers, holding a current Archery GB membership card, can apply for immediate membership. This requirement is to comply with conditions of insurance that cover clubs and archers. Link to information on beginners’ courses here Membership fees collected include separate elements for:
- The club – for the provision of shooting facilities (indoor and outdoor), shooting bosses and target faces, provision and maintenance of training bows and arrows
- Archery GB, which is the trading name of the Grand National Archery Society (G.N.A.S), the governing body of the sport of archery in the UK. They provide administrative, training, coaching and development functions as well as cover clubs and archers with insurance. All receive the magazine ArcheryUK four times a year.
- West Midlands Archery Society (W.M.A.S) which represents the West Midlands region on G.N.A.S committees. W.M.A.S organises competitions and meets to discuss issues affecting clubs and archers in its region.
